The
cut |
 |
| |
In order
to obtain a perfect quality of cut, three parameters need to be
taken into consideration:
|
|
| |
- the quality of the steel used,
- the absolute respecting of the heat treatment cycles,
- the grinding of the blade.
|
|
| |
This last operation
will ensure a perfect cut, sharpening being used to remove the "sharp
edge".
If a sharpened edge with a width of 2 to 3 mm can be seen, then
this is certainly not an Opinel.

Safety
ring |
 |
| |
The safety ring has been improved upon throughout the entire Opinel
range.
In addition, the blocking of the blade in the opened position (safety
use) is now possible by locking the blade in the closed position
(for transport safety purposes).

The
handle |
 |
| |
Largely made out of beechwood which has good resistance qualities.
Each handle is coated with a natural or tinted polyurethane varnish.
A new varnishing technique enables the handle to be entirely covered
limiting the possibility of the handle swelling in humid conditions.
Please note that wood is a living and natural material.
